    Mission

    The Family Law Society's mission is to enhance the education and raise awareness of the family law field and opportunities therein for the student body, to establish and maintain a networking relationship with practicing family law attorneys, and to enrich the role of family law practice in the community. Finally, the Society offers a venue of relevant discussion and current issues as they arise in the field of family law.

    Purpose

    The Family Law Society is a group of students interested in exploring, understanding, and expanding the field of family law and its application in our communities. Tapping into a vast network of dedicated, encouraging professionals in Maryland, Virginia, and beyond, we volunteer for family law projects and mingle at family law functions. FLS recognizes its role as member of the law school community by promoting various educational and networking opportunities for students who aspire to enter the field of family law.

    Julian Moss, 3L

    President

    Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Julian hopes to pursue a career in Family and Juvenile law to serve his community. He has experience working as a paralegal for a Family Law Firm handling divorce and custody disputes. He currently works for Fairfax County General District Court Civil Division. In his free time, Julian loves cooking and baking, and if you're lucky, he'll share some recipes with you.

    Bridget Brennan, 3L

    Vice President

    Bridget is an evening student, living in Maryland, who works during the day as a program manager in technology focused on information privacy. After 30 years working in engineering, sales, product development, and program management, she is looking to supplement a mostly technical career with a legal one providing legal services to women, children, elders, and others that need legal assistance. When not working at work or school, she enjoys yoga, reading, and family.

    Danielle Adams, 3L

    Treasurer

    Danielle is the Treasurer for the Family Law Society. She currently works as a law clerk at the Law Firm of Paley Rothman in Bethesda, Maryland. She works predominantly in Family Law at the firm, handling domestic violence cases as well as dissolution of marriage cases. On-campus, she participates in extracurriculars as the Managing Editor for the Journal of Gender, Social Policy, and the Law in addition to participating in the Gender Justice Clinic.

    Rachel Rosenberg, 3L

    External Outreach Coordinator

    Rachel grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and attended William Smith College. She has worked as an intern with the United States Army Jag Corps Family Division and as a paralegal for Hostetter Strent, a firm specializing in domestic relations law and dispute resolution. In her free time, Rachel loves hiking and riding horses.

    Samora Bazil, 3L

    Special Events & Marketing Coordinator

    Samora is from South Florida. She attended the University of Florida for her Bachelor's and Master's degree. She worked at her alma mater for four years as an Academic Advisor and Admissions Officer. On-Campus, she is a part of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society and the Gender Justice Clinic.

    Professor David Spratt

    Faculty Advisor

    Professor David H. Spratt received a B.A. degree in Government and Psychology from The College of William and Mary and graduated summa cum laude from The American University, Washington College of Law. In 2001, Professor Spratt was a founding partner of Schwartz & Spratt, PLC, a family law firm in Fairfax, Virginia. Professor Spratt writes a regular column, “Writer’s Block,” for the Virginia Bar Association News Journal.
